作品簡介
I'm a Woman is an installation piece that combines sculpture and film. It describes a woman using her body to have a dialogue with different spaces. The artist learned how to weave in 2014 and officially became a "woman" in the Truku tribe. She is quoted as saying: "After I turned 30, I strongly felt I am a woman . . . One part belongs to the tribe, the other part belongs to myself as an individual." She says: "I combine ready-made things and woven fabrics. Using a weaving needle and used sweaters, I combine two different skills in the traditional weaving. I like to express temporality through using strong visual materials because through turning time into an artpiece I can be closest to human instincts. Additionally, I try the medium of film to express myself, to allow my feelings, body, and art work to respond to each other. What appears in the film are scenes from daily life - from the factory, the kitchen, the bathroom, rivers, and the beach. Constantly moving two hands to produce and completing a piece, forming a three-dimensional piece by using humorous methods - this turns the mobile temporality of labor into stillness."
