mic.usay.munali‘ & ufa

Mic.usay.munali‘ is the lead singer in Ufa electronica band. The young artist mic.usay.munali‘ is of Amis, Hoanya of Pinpu ethnic groups and Han heritage. She has been unconfident with her identity until she participated in Formosa Indigenous Song and Dance Troupe, and found her talent as a singer. Her voice is praised as "a gift from her ancestor". The experiences of returning to Makerahay, Taitung, her mother's homeland, mic.usay.munali keeps on cultivating her Amis legacy, and has reconstruct an alternative Indigenous culture, which breaks the preconceived style persisted among the Indigenous music creation.

Ufa is currently based in Taitung of south east Taiwan. Their album "Unalloyed Fusion Anamnesis" was released in 2013, and " lipahak ko'orip (Happy Life)" was released in 2020.

“Aynuko” means “mingled bloodlines” in our community. Sometimes, the elders in my family also call me aynuko.

The ancient mythology will become more and more like history and just myth.
The future will also become more and more like a myth. It is actually a cycle.

My work takes the Amis primordial mythology as the starting point. I use singing to narrate what has happened in the long process.
The singing includes the past, present, future, and the entire course of integration.

(excerpt from lyrics)

The whales dive in the deepest seebed.
The reeves's muntjacs migrate through the mostest hills.
The clouded leopoards reborn after annihilation.
The trees smelt in the moment of eterntiy.
The giants expand the illusion spells.
The human fall into the chaos of awakeness.
All in the immesurable infinity.
