人物簡介
Elug means ”Road” in the Truku language. In Chinese, we take this term to express our core significances – having a fearless, clean mind like the kids, following the ancestors’ footsteps, and walking the road set by the ancestors.
Elug Art Corner (hereafter called “Elug”) was founded in the Dowmung Community of Xiulin Township of Hualien County in 2015. Dondon Houmwm, the founder of Elug, was fearless in his childhood. Nothing can stop him from doing anything or going somewhere then. So he wishes Elug could have the same brave, clean mind as the kids and learn the ancient knowledge preserved from the ancestors. Most of Elug’s members come from various commuinties and ethnic groups. They are the younger generation caring about their indigenous cultures. From transmitting the traditional music and dance, and practicing the ceremonial spirit, to paying close attention to the currently difficult situations of indigenous culture, Elug begins to perform with a new artistic expression in 2019 and remains to do so in 2021. Through integrating the checked, matched parts of community resources, this forward-looking team hopes the ethnic spirit could shine again in the community. At the same time, they would like to spread such a spirit outside the community and over other areas and people. What they do helps increase their culture’s visibility and influence in today’s societies. Phpah Arts Gathering and Valley Music Festival are the specific ways how Elug realizes the revival of community culture.
