Tjimur Dance Theatre

Tjimur Dance Theatre (TDT) is a full-time dance company that focuses on the contemporary Paiwan people in Taiwan. It’s founded by the dance company’s head and artistic director Ljuzem Madiljin, led by the dance director and choreographer Baru Madiljin. Based in Paiwan’s Timur Community, TDT tries to transform Paiwan’s music and dance into contemporary body language. More than that, insisting on using the traditionalization foundation to extract the essence of Paiwan people’s culture, TDT brings songs into their dance and uses their dance to create songs, which is one of Taiwan’s contemporary dance companies featuring unique styles.

TDT devotes the effort to exploring the unique breathing method, which Paiwan people use to bring songs into the dance. Through Paiwan’s contemporary body training created by the artistic director Ljuzem Madiljin, it can make a breakthrough for the dancers’ physical inertia to constantly develop more potential and challenge the limits.

Since its founding, TDT has made the developing possibilities of the indigenous peoples’ contemporary theater. Through the Tjimur Arts Festival, TDT gives a channel to have a dialogue with the world. At the same time, TDT annually holds the tour performance in the communities and the workshops to boost the development of spreading over Taiwan’s arts.
