作品簡介
"Continuing" draws inspiration from the traditional Atayal totem. Using the traditional bridal dress as a source material but redesigning it, the artist's work shows diverse weaving methods. In addition, they apply, interpret, and elucidate craftsmanship and aesthetics that exist in indigenous community life. In the Atayal culture to which Xie Meiru belongs, the weaving skill represents the mission and identity of the Atayal woman throughout her life. These skills include planting ramie, making yarn, analyzing totems, and passing on these skills. The community culture expected women to be equipped with such skills and they were tasked with the responsibility of passing on important values. This work connects traditions and memories in her community to sculpture and brings life customs to practice.
