Youdasi Mazhu combines oil painting and sculpture and pays respect to the artist's Atayal father-in-law by using industrial screws and 3D technologies. Youdasi means father-in-law in the Atayal language, and Mazhu is the name of his father-in-law. Jidan's father-in-law was an Atayal warrior and a brave hunter when he was young. In his later days, his healthy body and vision were weakened and had to retire from hunting into taking care of grandchildren at home. However, he often talked about his achievements in the past. This work draws upon characters and costumes in the film Seediq Bale and a few thousand screws' surface is painted with colors; the father-in-law's brave images are vividly reconstructed.
