The translation after the translation

When we raised questions during the filming process, the interviewees would offer us answers from different perspectives. Sometimes they took turns and pieced together the answers. Sometimes, they would take time to discuss with each other. Therefore, we just got the final answers that were sorted out by the translator. Yet there were times that the translator didn't know which response was the correct one, and whose answers should be translated and who's not. I cannot communicate with the Jemeri people directly because of  language boundaries. I was often in a curious state, guessing what they actually said. It made me contemplate the gap between the oral narrators, and its relationship with the recorder.
