傲予 莫那教授為臺灣首位原住民取得法學博士者,透過深描原住民族法制與權利的多面向內容,個人創造性地解析原住民族權利當代性的「多元文化脈絡」,使得基礎理論與法制實踐能有相當程度的整合關係。除能擴大原住民族法與權利的觀察向度,兼顧國際法、國家法與原住民族法律傳統的動態發展關係,並能有效反饋至執法、管制及司法的運作,推動臺灣原住民族法學在國際上與各國學說與實證並駕齊驅,足以代表個人在原住民族人權與多元文化法學領域作為領先學者之一之實證。
Dr. Awi Mona, a member of indigenous Taiwanese to the Seediq Nation, is a legal and human rights scholar with extensive collaborative work on indigenous rights movements with local communities in Taiwan. Awi is the first indigenous person in the country to obtain a doctorate degree in law. In 2017-2020, Awi was appointed to lead the Subcommittee on Land Claims of the Presidential Office Indigenous Historical Justice and Transitional Justice Committee to engage with indigenous communities across Taiwan in land claims investigation and analysis; further, to produce final report and recommendations for administrative reform efforts. In addition, he joined the Legal Aid Foundation since 2018 as the Director for the Indigenous Legal Service Center where he collaborated with legal professionals, attorneys and indigenous activists to litigate major cases involving Indigenous sovereignty and natural resources. From 2023-2024, he served as a consultant to the National Human Rights Commission, Taiwan, providing legal and policy advice on a wide variety of Indigenous law and human rights issues.
