人物簡介
林明(Wagi Payan)博士畢業於英國藍開斯特大學社會系,為國立東華大學原住民民族學院族群關係與文化學系助理教授。專業領域為文化社會學、文化觀光學、休閒旅遊行為研究、質化研究方法與原住民旅遊。研究主要圍繞於觀光客的情緒和情感經歷(emotional encounter),即觀光客在與不同人事物相遇時,所出現的情緒/情感反應。不論是單獨一人或集體,觀光客如何透過親身參與來體驗休閒遊憩活動與事件,並獲得特殊的情緒和情感反應,是她特別鑽研的議題。同時,也專注於休閒遊憩、運動等事件與地方權益關係人如何形塑地方不同族群的文化與認同,以及其與當代社會政治變遷之間的關係。此外,Wagi博士為台灣原住民南島產經文教關懷協會之監事,參與推動台灣原住民產業、經濟、文化、教育及關懷之活動計畫,拓展與「南島語族」群島各國的聯結。
Dr. Ming Smith (Wagi Payan) graduated from the Department of Sociology at Lancaster University in the UK and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures at the College of Indigenous Studies, National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan. Her professional fields include cultural sociology, cultural tourism studies, leisure and tourism behavior research, qualitative research methods, and indigenous tourism. Her research primarily focuses on the emotional encounters of tourists, specifically the emotional responses that tourists experience when they encounter different people, places, and things. She investigates how tourists, whether alone or in groups, engage in leisure and recreational activities and events to gain unique emotional responses. Additionally, she focuses on how leisure and recreational events and local stakeholders shape the culture and identity of different ethnic groups and their relationship with contemporary sociopolitical changes. Furthermore, Dr. Wagi is a supervisor of the Taiwan Indigenous Austronesian Economic, Cultural, and Educational Care Association, participating in activities promoting the industries, economy, culture, and education of Taiwan's indigenous peoples and expanding connections with Austronesian-speaking countries.
